Karolina & Efi – From Their Sketches to Her Engagement Ring
This ring was particularly special for me because it was created for two artists.
Karolina is a photographer, and she was actually the first photographer I ever worked with for VONA. Efi is a graphic designer, so when he reached out to create an engagement ring for her, I was immediately excited to see what we could make together.
And they already had ideas. They had sketched different designs before we even started the process, so we weren't beginning with a blank page.
When Efi reached out to me, we looked through their ideas together and started refining the design. We eventually landed on an east-west trilogy: a 1.5-carat emerald-cut lab-grown diamond in the center, with two pear-shaped diamonds on either side. We positioned all three stones east-west, giving the classic trilogy setting a wider, more modern silhouette.
We also knew the ring needed to be yellow gold. Karolina already wears yellow-gold jewelry, so we made the entire setting in 18K yellow gold, including the prongs, so it would naturally feel like part of the jewelry she already loves.
What I love most about this ring is that their creative point of view was part of the process from the very beginning. They came with sketches and ideas, and together we turned them into something she could actually wear.
Our love story began in Milan, so VONA was the only natural choice to become part of it. It started as a quick sketch on a scrap of paper, and Dudu, the heart behind VONA, turned it into something real. It’s the kind of piece you can only say “yes” to ;)
The Karolina Ring is now part of the VONA engagement ring archive and can be recreated or personalized through our bespoke process.
